CALGARY– Calgary-based energy consultancy GLJ Ltd. is committed to supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) through its work as a trusted advisor on a wide variety of energy projects around the world. GLJ’s work is featured in the sustainability documentary Vision 2045.

The project, which is named in honour of the 100th Anniversary of the United Nations, highlights companies around the world who are leading the way in demonstrating how business, society and environment can all flourish together. GLJ’s featured documentary is now available for viewing on Reuters.

“The access to reliable, affordable energy has lifted much of the world out of poverty,” says Jodi Anhorn, CEO of GLJ.Energy is undergoing enormous change. Consumers want transparency and improved responses to all ESG topics while still demanding access to affordable, sustainable, and secure energy. It is a balance of enjoying the benefits of energy without impacting our planet in a negative manner.”

“At GLJ we are extremely optimistic about the future because we see first-hand the commitment to responsible energy with our clients, including ARC Resources who is featured in the documentary”, added Mr. Anhorn.  “ARC’s purpose is to create a better world through energy, and they are making tremendous progress. GLJ believes that innovation will help provide solutions to the global dual challenge.”

Since 1972, GLJ’s team of engineers, geoscientists and business professionals have become international leaders in both emerging and traditional energy services.

“For GLJ, supporting businesses in a strategic and responsible manner is at the core of what we do,” says Colleen Sherry, Vice President, Sustainability and Emissions Management at GLJ. “We believe a true commitment to the UN SDGs doesn’t have to just be seen as a cost, it can be a business opportunity to help companies and clients move forward very positively.”

GLJ promotes awareness and continuous improvement of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices while supporting positive energy growth and investment to meet the needs of a growing global population. Accordingly, GLJ is committed to Truth and Reconciliation and has developed an Indigenous Commitment Statement to guide their business journey to better understand, respect, and include Indigenous peoples.

Vision 2045 was filmed in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, and the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, as well as the Métis Nation of Region 3. During filming, Nakoda Elder Alice Kaquitts delivered an Indigenous blessing for the documentary project. Elder Kaquitts provided her wishes for continued sustainable development of energy globally that respects our  planet.
