Case Studies
Limit switch in biomass fuel additive.
A plant in the bulk industry was building a pneumatic transfer system to convey a deposit inhibiting additive to biomass fuel in a small power plant. The customer needed to include a high-level switch to indicate when the dosing hopper had reached the correct level to allow it to be discharged into the boiler. The challenges were that the particle size varied from 5µm to 100µm and with limited space the flow of product would be directed over the level switch.
The Solution
In this application the customer is using the UWT Capanivo CN4030 with a sliding sleeve. So, he was able to adjust the switching point and by reducing the sensitivity the Capanivo worked well with the flow of product.
The combination of a stainless-steel shaft and GRP housing & probe also assisted as the product was slightly acidic.

Limit switch in a pressure feed hopper.
The challenge in this application was that the sensor should detect the maximum alarm in a pressure feed hopper with lime powder. Extremely dusty application with process pressures reaching 5bar. The reaction time should be quite fast.
The Solution
The solution is a capacitive sensor CN4030 with a 500mm shaft. The sensor has a sensitivity of DK 1,6 and a reaction time of about 0,5 second. It is a cost-effective, highly reliable solution. The combination of a stainless-steel shaft and GRP housing & probe also assisted as the product was slightly acidic.
