Global regulation might be on pause, but the industry – and Global Maritime Decarbonisation – certainly is not. Vessels are on order, infrastructure is being built – and compliance costs are already being levied under EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime. The absence of regulatory certainty does not stop the transition; it only increases the risk of getting it wrong.
Our mission this year goes far beyond comparing fuel viability. The focus now is on determining which fuel strategies will yield the lowest commercial risk under uncertain policy conditions. Our job is to deliver industry certainty amid regulatory uncertainty, not just to support the ongoing rollout of LNG, but to mitigate risk for those long offtake agreements which alone can deliver alternative fuels too.
In the absence of global regulation, informal industry collaboration is the only viable way forward. No matter the outcome in October 2026, GMD can help future-proof your sustainable fuel pathway.
