(Reuters) – Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Thursday that Carlos Trevino, former CEO of state oil company Pemex, had been arrested in the United States and would be deported to stand trial in Mexico for corruption charges.
Trevino served as CEO of Pemex from 2017 to 2018, stepping down after former President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador took office.
Speaking at her daily press conference, Sheinbaum said Trevino would face prosecution for alleged acts of corruption during his tenure.
