Collicutt Energy: New Manufacturing Building Doubles Shop Space

As mentioned earlier this year in this article: Collicutt Energy: Year in Review – Big Growth and Positive Future, Collicutt is growing.

Included in this growth is our Manufacturing Department. It has been steadily growing since its inception 3 years ago. During this time, our team was working out of a single bay at the main shop and it was beginning to limit their ability to manufacture products quickly and efficiently. At one point they were working on 6 different projects in that single bay. We quickly realized that they needed more manpower and more space to be able to keep up with the demands on the department.

Finding a shop that met their needs was a lot harder than anyone initially thought. It took some time, but the right shop was finally found and leased. It was over double the shop space and it included an option to lease more space in the future. The shop location has a fully paved yard which is large enough to store materials for both upcoming and completed projects. The office space was not ideal for what they needed but we could see the potential. As time and budget allows, we plan to renovate the office space to accommodate the required staff for the growing department.

With the new shop they can run two dedicated production lines with an extra bay for other projects. This gives them flexibility to double up a production line if necessary or run smaller projects through it. The gained storage inside the shop provides the ability to stage the next project in the bay it will be run through. There is a dedicated fabrication area to build or modify parts when necessary. They also incorporated an engine controller assembling station and custom wire harness building area into one of the bays. These all support our expansion by giving them the ability to modularize some of our products and prebuild parts that are used across multiple products. The custom wire harness area is double the size compared to the main shop and allows them to build any size of custom harness our customers need.

Collicutt looks forward to what the future holds with this new shop and growing team. This development gives us a larger capacity to meet industry demands more efficiently and effectively.
