Michael Reed, Director, Technical and Project Management Division at the U.S. Department of Energy is eager to put the money he has in his budget to work building out the next generation of large renewable energy projects.
And it’s a lot of money.
The loan program office was recently funded by Congress and will be accepting applications for projects on a rolling basis until September 2019. Reed, who happens to have a background in water power, said he’d be interested in pumped storage hydro projects in addition to other renewable energy projects.
